Dr. Georgios G. Ziogas, was awarded a Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Sport Science and Exercise Physiology from University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Master of Science degree (MSc) from Pittsburg State University (USA). During his doctoral studies he was research and teaching assistant at the Sport Science and Human Performance Lab (1992-1996). He received numerous prestigious awards including the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities” (1994, 1995), the “Walter Scott Monroe Research Fellowship” (1993), the “Marvelle Michael Scholarship” and the Superior Graduate Student Achievement Award (1996).

Since 2000 he has been the Head of “SPORTSCLINIC Thessaloniki” Exercise Physiology and Human Performance Lab. He tests and analyses performance of elite athletes and evaluates all parameters affecting physical capacity in various sports including Football, Track and Field, Rowing, Swimming, Cycling, Tennis, Marathon, Ultramarathon events, Triathlon, Skiing, Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, Tae Kwon Do, Martial Arts, etc. Also, he is an expert on GPS and game fitness analysis, using various tracking software including PROZONE, STATSPORTS, VIS TRACK, GPSports, etc. He has been working with elite football teams participating in Champions’ League (Group of 8) and Europa League and with major clubs and elite athletes from Greece, Russia, Cyprus, Ukraine and Dubai. In addition, he has been Head Sport Scientist at the Hellenic Olympic Rowing team (Athens 2004, Beijing, 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016).

He was Research Fellow at the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Center at the University of Ioannina Medical Center and Clinical Exercise Physiologist at IASIS Aerospace Medical Center in Thessaloniki. Currently he is a research fellow at the Paediatric Hospital of Athens Medical School and fitness consultant at Dnation. He has more than 60 scientific presentations at international conferences and 17 published articles in reputable international journals including: the British Journal of Medicine; Metabolism, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise; Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation; Canadian Journal of Applied Physiology; Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sports, Nutrition; Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research; Knee Surgery Sport Traumatology; and Arthroscopy, Journal of Science and Medicine in Sports.
